Picture update.

We have been happy homeowners since January 9 th . In the last 19 days Tim and I, in the kitchen, have stripped wallpaper, painted the cabinets, walls, installed new hardware, stripped the 3 layers of vinyl linoleum and adhesive to get to the concrete subfloor , replaced all the outlets and switches, and installed a bigger ceiling light. We ripped out the old washer and dryer, painted the walls, and stripped the floors of the same 3 layers of vinyl, plus carpet. We found out that the dryer was natural gas. The dryer we brought with us from Missouri is electric. We have an electrician coming tomorrow to hook us up. In the dining room we patched holes in the wall and painted them. We still need to paint the trim, but all the kitchen and laundry room stuff is in the dining room. In the living room we patched more holes the the wall, painted the walls and most of the trim, and replaced the outlets and switches. We still have to paint the doors and door frames. We talked with Lowes about o...

Update...

Well, the main level is almost done being painted. The dining room and living room just need trim painted. The kitchen is a thorn in our side. We decided to hire Home Depot to install bamboo flooring because they were having a great sale. The guy came to measure and turns out we have a 1/2" slope to our floor. We don't know if it's from the 3 layers of vinyl or the concrete slab foundation. Bottom line: They won't install our new floors. I only found out because I stopped in and sat there until they gave me an answer. When were they going to call and let us know they weren't going to install our floors? We also have the old owner's washer and dryer still. No one we knew wanted them. We tried to donate them, but no one wanted them. I found a classified ad where some other lady was selling hers. I called and asked if hers were sold (yes) and if she could pass my number on to the next person to call her (no). We definitely don't live in the Midwest anymore. ...

Kitchen Remodel "During"

Image
Our beautiful new fridge! No wallpaper and crisp white walls! Where did all my cabinet doors go? The cabinets are drying on the old owners washer and dryer. They're also drying on our washer and dryer. Anyone need a washer and dryer? Come and get them! The doors also took over our dining room! Your token picture of Luella!

Forgot to put in the half bathroom between the living room and dining room. Our shed from the dining room. The guest bedroom looking towards the master. Will be painted Cancun Sand. Another view of the guest bedroom. Luella's room. Will be painted Lightly Lilac.

Welcome to 1519 Charlestown Drive! The sign is gone and we'll be planting flowers in the spring. The living room which is getting painted Cancun Sand. The dining room and Luella. The room will be painted Dried Chervil (sage green). The view of the back yard from the dining room. The really ugly kitchen. We have a new stainless steel fridge. The wallpaper is gone. The walls will be Palatial White and the cabinets Autumn Mist (red). The floor will be Tundra Maple laminate hardwood floors. The laundry room we'll paint Palatial White and replace their old appliances with our new ones. The mudroom they turned into an office. We'll remove the wallpaper border (not shown), paint it Palatial White, and put in pantry shelves. Upstairs! The master bedroom will be painted Dried Chervil (sage green). The walk-in closet and master bathroom. The claustrophobic master bathroom. View of the guest bath from the door. Odd that it has a tub with shower head and a separate shower. When wi...

Tuesday was a big day!

The Sikorski family had a huge day on Tuesday! Luella had her 4 month appointment. She is officially 15 pounds 8 ounces, 25 inches long, and her head is 16.54 inches around. We get to start solid foods! Tim and I signed the papers and now own our townhouse! We feel so grown up! Amazing that in the last 2 years we got married, had a baby, moved three times and just now feel grown up. We are redoing the kitchen this weekend. We stripped the wallpaper this week and soon the walls will be painted. I'm in the middle of painting the cabinets. Eventually we'll be putting in laminate hardwood floors. Someday we want to redo the bathrooms, but that remodel way over our heads. For now we'll stick with painting the rest of the house. Feel free to write or visit us!
