Luella's Tap Routine

Sorry the first few notes sound awful. The sound is really loud in the auditorium. Also, no idea why the right side of the video is cut off. Good thing Luella is on the left!

Luella's Ballet Routine

Dance Recital Dress Rehearsal!

Image
Katja was not happy that Kyla didn't put makeup on her, so she took matters into her own hands. The eyeliner got pretty much where it should be! Katja was also not happy wearing her short dress, so she put on her pants and boots all by herself. The pants are on inside out, but she gets an A+ for effort! Luella is the newest face for Toddlers and Tiaras. The makeup does enhance her natural beauty, but there's just something wrong about a 3-year-old wearing makeup! Luella and Abby Ridgeway waiting for their turn to dance. Kyla forgot Luella's dance shoes in the mad dash to get to the rehearsal on time. Luckily, the rehearsal started 30 minutes late, so Kyla did have a chance to run home, grab shoes, and be back in time for any of Luella's dancing! The girls lined up in the hallway waiting to go on stage. Sorry Katja , not you too. Next year! Almost all the girls in Luella's class looking at the camera! Waiting to go on stage for their ballet routine! We found the c...

S'mores and Sidewalk Chalk Artist

Image
It's way too hot to play with fire outside (98 degrees with heat index making it feel like 105). So Kyla decided snack time was microwaved s'mores ! For a girl who doesn't like to get messy or sticky, Katja sure gets into her chocolaty ooey -gooey goodness! Yes, that is chocolaty marshmallow all the way up her arm to her biceps! Luella the sidewalk chalk artist really gets into her work! Kyla hired Michelle to come over again today, this time so Kyla could clean. It didn't work as great as Kyla hoped, but the motivation to clean wasn't there. A few rooms are looking really good, but most are okay. Smiling faces! Not really sure, but it was fun! Yesterday's sidewalk chalk with a sun and the start of a beach. The blue is the ocean coming from the beach with fish in the sea. A nifty game of hopscotch.

Wednesday.

Image
Kyla hired a high school girl from church to play with the kids while she packed for our 2-month trip to Minnesota. Kyla is about as packed as she can be until she loads up the minivan. After we dropped off Michelle, we went to Best Buy to get a memory card for the new camera. Here's Luella in the parking lot! Can someone else tell these kids that it's 97 degrees outside? After playing in the water, Katja only wanted to wear her diaper, until she saw her sweater, Kyla's stocking cap and Luella's snow boots. Luella and Katja playing hide and seek under the table.

Last day of dance class.

Image
Tuesday was Luella's last day of dance class. Friday is dress rehearsal and Saturday is the recital! The moms and siblings got to come watch them perform in the room so they could practice in front of an audience. Caught in mid- plie . Tiptoes in circles. Slide with one arm up and one leg up! Then they moved on to their tap routine. They are tapping to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" and have alligator feet around their mark. Tapping those toes! Hush my darling! The lion sleeps tonight! We got Luella's professional dance photos back today too. Such a cute lion! Here's her classmates who showed up for picture day. There may be one or two more girls in the recital. Katja found Luella's dance clothes and shoes in the bag. She can't wait for next year when she can dance too!

Happy Father's Day 2010!

Image
Kyla admits it - without Tim here, she kinda forgot about Father's Day. We did spend a nice afternoon with Uncle Phil. We watched - name that movie... The Parent Trap with Lindsey Lohan . The girls loved their pony rides, which eventually became pony slides! The girls had the most fun with Uncle Phil today! Happy Uncle's Day! We did get to talk with Tim and Kyla's dad on the phone. Happy Father's Day to the best Dads!

Midsommar Festival!

Image
Friday the 18 th of June, Kyla had a dentist appointment. Uncle Phil took the day off to watch the girls after he did his yard work. Kyla decided to get a new camera since Luella's dance recital and our trip to Montana and Minnesota is coming soon, and we still haven't found the old camera. Kyla took the camera for a test drive at IKEA's Midsommar Festival. We celebrated being Swedish! Katja didn't really like the green light that comes on to reduce red eyes. Might just have to turn on the red eye fixer in the settings. Uncle Phil is the best! One of those rare pictures of Luella actually looking at the camera and smiling! We got two of them! Kyla had heard that IKEA was a great play place - just hanging out in the kids' section. Why haven't we done this earlier?! Kyla wasn't as thrilled with the camera. One of it's selling features was a 2GB internal drive. These pictures and video filled up the entire internal memory - definitely not 2GB. Now ...

Mailing the kids to Tim for Father's Day!

Image
Kyla got it in her mind that she needed to mail the kids to Tim for Father's Day. Since they didn't fold up to fit in the box, she thought next best thing would be to trace them and let the kids color themselves. They ended up coloring each other! Happy Father's Day Tim! Hope you enjoy getting your girls in the mail!

A Day Out with Thomas!

Image
We started our morning really early, leaving our hotel near Sesame Place to drive over an hour to Amish country and train country - Strasburg , PA. It was a really pretty drive! We got to see Thomas the Tank Engine! My girls know who he is, but they're not as fascinated as with Elmo and Disney Princesses. Here's all six of us with Thomas! Thanks to the picture people for taking pics with our cameras and not just their cameras and pictures we have to pay for! Thomas was getting ready to pull out for the 9:15 ride. We had the 9:45 ride. The train engineer waving good-bye! After spending the next few minutes scoping out the other activities, we got our ride on Thomas! Which picture is better? Luella yawning... Or Katja's angry face from the red eye light on the cameras? The Jackson family all smiles! On our 15- ish minute train ride, we saw the Red Caboose Motel. Legend has it that the owner saw cabooses up for auction and put in a ridiculously low bid, even lower than what ...
