Sikorski Saga

The girls have started coming in to wake Kyla up, but usually too early to actually get up for the day. So we have snuggle time. Wish Daddy was here for these morning snuggles.

Kyla had a dentist appointment for teeth cleaning today. Kati got to come along and take over the patient tv and the fuzzy patient blanket. Half way through, the hygienist assistant gave Kati her own doctor mask so she could be mommy's dentist!

Both Kyla and Luella started taking piano lessons today! Kati gets to come listen to both of us play for 30 minutes each, or 1 hour total. Luella and our piano teacher Ms. Annemarie Landry posing after our first lesson.

This is quite ridiculous! Prince William County canceled school today for this light dusting of snow. Supposedly lots of ice under this snow, but as always, my driveway is the worst of the driving conditions.

Tim left today for his deployment to Africa. The paper chain is half as long as last time, but it's still too long in our opinion. At the airport we asked a nice lady to take our picture. She didn't really have to get a full length one with the whole box of Kleenex, but it's still part of the story. Kati doesn't understand that this trip to the airport means Daddy is gone for a much longer time. Snuggles bye bye. Luella understands this time that Daddy is going for a lot longer time. Luella asked to make a cake. Sure! Since we decided many years ago that every day is Valentine's Day, we made a heart shaped cake and called it early Valentine's Day! A cute picture of three of us! We woke up to a fresh blanket of snow this morning! Kyla went ahead and shoveled the driveway for Tim. He flew in from North Carolina this morning. As she shoveled, she realized that Tim missed out on shoveling this winter, yet again. Not only is Katja getting her first haircut today, but we're trying to see if she wants earrings today too. As soon as she asks to get her ears pierced without prompting, she gets them. Now asking Kati if she'd rather have earrings or pancakes. Tim was in North Carolina all last week and got home early this morning. Of course, Daddy's pancakes win! Luella discusses the new haircut she wants. Rysa Wheeler is the first of the little kid crowd at church to turn THREE! She had a tea party themed birthday party! Hugs from the birthday girl for Kati. Such a beautiful tea party! We had to take a picture of Pastor Kim in a dress! Very rare occasion ! Rysa's dad Tom made her a tea pot for a birthday cake! Quite talented! Rysa opened her birthday present from the girls. Kati, where's Luella?

While having dinner on December 29 th with our cousins Tom and Fran Larsen, we discussed wanting a piano, but not having the finances to buy one at this time. Tom remembered he was storing a piano at his church and said if we moved it, it was ours! How incredible! We had Potter Piano Movers move it today! Kyla wonders about the history of this piano. We bet it has some great stories to tell! It's a Strohber Upright Grand made in Chicago. On the back of the piano is written in black Sharpie, Baptist Church. The girls are having a blast playing the piano! It's quite a hike to get up and down from the piano bench. Luella showing off just how tall that piano bench really is. Luella wants to get her hair cut to shoulder length and cut in bangs. So we're going to the mall today to try out Simply Spa- Rific . It's a spa for little girls and we've heard good things about their kid's haircuts. It's also a test run to see if we like the haircut enough to have Kati's first hair cut there. Tim is gone to North Carolina for the week, so we'll get Kati's hair cut this weekend when he comes home. Luella's hair goes half-way down her back! Kyla asked her to pose. It didn't really matter that the before photos didn't get posted today. We didn't get a walk-in appointment to get Luella's hair cut, so we ended our mall trip with a ride on the mini carousel . We made appointments to get both girls' hair cut on January 8 th .

Kati helped Kyla get ready for Luella's preschool Christmas party. Kati got a playdate with Eddie Craig during the party. After crafts, which Kyla forgot to take pictures since she was leading them, we played pin the nose on Rudolph. We had double stick tape on fuzzy pompoms so all the teachers and moms are trying to get the double stick off and gave up and just put a roll of tape on the back! Luella found Rudolph's nose! Myles was the last kid to put his nose on Rudolph. Kyla made a veggie Christmas tree for the healthy snack option. The kids (Luella in particular) loved it!
