This is why it's called FALL!

Image
No, Luella didn't fall out of the tree, but she was scared she would yesterday afternoon. Holding on for dear life, after begging for 5 minutes to climb the tree. Uncle Phil to the rescue! This is why it's called fall! These are the leaves we raked from under that tree. Where's Luella? Luella giving the leaf pile perspective. We filled a 30 gallon contractor sized garbage bag with about half of that pile. (It rained last night, so the leaves on the ground doubled.) Luella loved being buried in the leaves. Katja warmed up to it after a bit. Happy Autumn!

Happy Halloween Costumes!

Image
Katja is going as.... Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! Luella is going as Pinkie Pie the My Little Pony. My girls are so adorable! Luella's backside showing off her mane (which we need to cut down a bit), tail, and cutie mark (balloons). Trick or Treat! sounds like Neigh! when Luella's a pony.

Videos of our play date.

Katja making squishy faces and running around the water play room. The girls showing off their plumbing skills, making big mazes for the water to come out. Luella and Hailey found the musical instruments. They were supposed to spray a water gun at the instruments to make them play, but there wasn't enough water pressure. So the girls went after the instruments without water. Katja found the water spout. Luella playing with the water gun and spraying Katja who loves the water spout! Time to blow dry! Luella definitely pays attention when Kyla dries her hair upside down to get more volume. Luella singing baby karaoke in the music studio. Hailey liked talking into the mike, but not singing.

Play date with Jackson Family

Image
Saturday, October 24 th , we drove up to Baltimore for a play date at Port Discovery with Lynn, Stuart, and Hailey Jackson. Port Discovery is a fun indoor play area that is great if you don't think of it as a "scientific" experience. Luella is our knight in shining armor. There is one little room for smaller children. Katja must be working on more teeth because she wanted to chew on everything. The girls loved the ball pit! Well, not so much Katja . Luella and Hailey loved being buried in the balls and seeing how far they could sink down in the pit. Luella! Hailey! There is one room dedicated to water play. Lynn taking her turn at the loch system for the play boats. Hailey and Luella playing with the lochs and boats. Luella building a barge from Lego's . Katja at the little ones splash pad area. Katja surfing! Katja washing windows, or giving them a reason to be washed. Luella in the background finding out what floats and what sinks. Katja found a water spout. T...

Friday, October 23rd

Kyla played Bunco on Fort Belvoir with an Army wife friend from APG . While she was gone, the girls and Tim had pizza, pj and movie night. They watched "Monsters vs Aliens". Tim said it was cute, but Luella's still scared of monsters. While Kyla was gone, Tim swore he heard Katja say, "miss Mommy". Of course, trying to get Katja to say "miss Mommy" on video, not happening. However, this one shows off Luella and her new skill of being potty trained! We're on week 3 with no real accidents that weren't really Kyla or Tim's fault for not helping Luella with her complicated clothing. She has no problems with going #2 on the toilet and no problems going in public bathrooms! Now to work on nighttime training.

Chicken Pot Pie

Image
Kyla made chicken pot pie for dinner on Thursday. Katja thought it was yummy! Lick the plate yummy! All done! Kind of like finishing the grog, when you're done, you flip the cup/plate over your head to show it's all gone.

Beautiful Fall Weather!

Image
Tuesday was such a beautiful day, we had to go to the park and play! Katja found she loves the swings! Luella is always up for a great swing! Wednesday the 21st was also beautiful, so we went back to the park and played on the slides! Kyla introduced Nutella to the girls. As you can see, it was finger licking good! Now to get their faces clean!

Friday, October 16, Quantico

Thirty-five years ago, newly weds 2LT Dan and Karen Rasmussen lived in the top floor apartment in Triangle, VA while Dan went to Officer Candidate School ( OCS ) and the Basic Officer Course at Quantico Marine Corps Base. The first window is the living room, the kitchen and in the back a bedroom. Mom told stories about cockroaches crawling across the counters in the morning. YUCK! The row of apartments. Theirs was the top on the right. Katja learning how to wear headphones to watch the movie in the van. Katja's first Happy Meal all to herself. She didn't eat it all. Some of the fall colors outside of the MEX (Marine Corps Exchange - department store). We found lots of cute clothes and holiday dresses. Dan got his hair cut. The Marine Corps Museum. Dan and Karen toured while the girls slept in the minivan. One of the displays. Karen said it was intense and the interactive parts were cool. Luella and Kyla needed hair cuts too, so we dropped of Dan and Katja . Luella's befo...
