TODAY! April 29th - finally caught up!

Image
Katja just did sign language sign for milk for the first time! Of course we had to give it to her! We're so happy she is communicating with us in some way other than crying. Bath time is so much fun for the girls! Katja doing the sign language sign for milk! Bath time for the girls is "monkey see, monkey do". Just realized there aren't many bath time pictures of Katja and figure it's harder to keep two from drowning in the bath, instead of just one. So, we're keeping the girls safe, but not capturing all their cute bath moments!

Videos of the crab

The first crab steam/pick of the year! We're celebrating that "Auntie Ginger" Hammerquist came home from Iraq! She left December 2007 and got to our house on Wednesday. Tim and Luella inspecting the crabs. Kyla had to show Katja that Maryland Blue Crabs really are blue before they're steamed. I like to pinch! (Or fighting until the very end!) Into the pot for a hot steam bath. They come out all rosy and yummy! Luella loves hitting her food, especially crabs! Tim can't pick the crab fast enough for her to eat. Our family photo eating at the picnic table for the first time this year! Kyla, Katja and Ginger with our pretty tree behind us in full bloom. It got a little dark when we were eating. This was all flash since all I could see in the camera lens was the citronella candles! Ginger getting blinded by the flash! A baby bunny joined us for dinner and skirted under our tool shed.

Kyla was out finishing her third week of training for the Army Ten Miler by running for 1 hour. She got just under 5 miles. While she was running, Tim made his Saturday Morning Pancake Brunch and Katja was his assistant. Falling asleep on the job! Won't bode well for later in life, but she's so dang cute sleeping with her bunny!

Luella is really into dress-up and story telling. Most days if you ask her about her dreams they will involve her being a princess and she went swimming in a pool of Hershey's chocolate! I hope this imagination doesn't disappear.

Katja trying hard to feed herself! Too cute! (Or Finally!) Now to work on angles that will get food into her mouth!

Videos from Hershey Park

April 18th - Hershey Park!

We spent a fabulous day with great church friends at Hershey Park! This ride was really the end of the day, but here we all are! Front is Kyla, Katja , Tim and Luella. Back is Lynnea's Mom, Lynnea, Stuart and Hailey Jackson. Stuart's office always rents a day at Hershey Park for the employees to enjoy with their friends and family for a discounted price. Thank you so much to the Jackson's for inviting us! After a picnic lunch, we headed into the park. We almost didn't make it into the park because Luella had to stop and smell ALL the flowers! Our first ride of the day was the carousel . Lynn was getting flip-flops while Stuart and Hailey, Kyla and Katja rode in the benches. Luella went for the horse. Notice the huge smile when she found out the horse went up and down! Tim and Luella with the carousel pony. Our family photo with the Hershey Bar. Luella's first roller coaster ride. The carousel wore Katja out! The adults took turns riding the big rides and watch...

April 16th

Katja really enjoys her cereal.

Happy Tax Day! Katja's making our favorite funny face. Luella used to do it too, but now that teeth are involved, it's just not as cute. Katja turned 8 months old on the 13 th . Where does the time go? No one can make Katja laugh like Luella can.

Videos from Easter Sunday

Small video snapshots of the day. They aren't necessarily the best of videos, but they're the ones less than 100MB.

Easter Sunday! April 12th

Image
He is risen! He is risen indeed! Kyla even made the traditional hot cross buns from scratch this year. Yummy pre -church breakfast! Tim blowing up one of the kites the Easter Bunny brought. This one doesn't have any poles, just inflated for stability. Luella flying her kite! Then the playground equipment wins out over the kite. Easter Dinner ready. Katja , Tim, Uncle Phil and Luella smiling waiting patiently to eat. Tim made a lamb with spinach stuffing this year. Kyla made au grautin potatoes, which are also called cheesy scalloped potatoes. Kyla had to get in on the pre -dinner pictures! Katja enjoying her Easter pears. The only reason they are "Easter" pears is because that's today.

Saturday, April 11th

The local VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) hosted an Easter Party. The Easter Egg Hunt was cancelled due to rain, but the party continued. Luella started by coloring a bunny. Katja finally decided that she could feed herself! Luella and Tim dyeing the Easter Eggs. This was Luella's first time dyeing eggs. Kyla's happy that it was at the VFW and not her house. Maybe next year. Luella's finished project. Luella enjoying her first ice cream cone cupcake. It had a blue peep with malted milk eggs in the frosting. She was overjoyed! The Easter Bunny left the loot before midnight. He brought the girls a 2-foot chocolate bunny, kites, pinwheels, movies, and some other little candy and toys. He also hid eggs in the living room!

April 9th, Katja cleans

Image
Katja found Luella's broom and thinks it's pretty cool. Luella and Katja fighting over the broom and who gets to sweep. Yeah, I'm not going to break up that fight!

April 8th, Luella reads!

Luella reads! We're so proud of her! Really, we know that she has the book memorized from us reading it to her, but it's fun to pretend that she's reading to us. The book is "But No Elephants" by Jerry Smath.
