Sikorski Saga

Just minutes later, Luella got stung by a wasp. We were in the basement! Sunday Luella got stung by a wasp on her hand and we were in the office and Tim got stung by a honeybee on his neck while he was trimming bushes. We were playing in the girls' playroom and Katja got into the water colors that Luella abandoned two minutes earlier. Katja took her first steps as a running start to get Luella. She probably wouldn't have fallen if we had someone on the other end to catch her! Now she's walking more before falling! She's trying to get to her favorite teddy bear that sings "Jesus Loves Me" calypso style and says the "Now I lay me down to sleep" prayer.

Really, THIS MORNING, we had Tim's pancake brunch. Katja loved the cool whip! Luella's enjoying her Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes! Kyla's not looking forward to Tim signing in off leave at the end of this week. She'll have to start cooking again, and oh yeah, Tim won't be around all the time.

Our house in Edgewood rented! The new tenant is a single E-7 without pets. So Friday 8/21/09, we drove up to Edgewood to mow the grass one last time and take pictures with the ruler of our height chart. Here's a blurry one of the girls' heights. We also got to visit with Jenny and James Rebolledo while Tim was filling out some paperwork. We had dinner with the Jurists before heading home again. It says "7/31/09" but it was really 8/21/09. Since the place was supposed to be vacant since 7/31/09, we didn't want him to think we were in there later. Looks like Katja is about 28 3/4"! Luella's first height we took at just under 33" on 12/15/07. Luella's next 3 heights about 36" on her second birthday 9/7/08, over 37" on 12/25/08, and 39 1/5" on 8/21/09.

G'Ma showed Kyla a collection of photos of all the girls in the McIntyre family, about 2 years old, in dresses, in the yard, in black and white. So when we got home, Kyla tried taking some cute shots of Luella. Luella in mid-spin. A close up of Luella. You might be wondering why these are in color. That's because Kyla can't figure out where her picture editing program hid the "change color to black and white" button.

We rested, did laundry and repacked for the airplane rides the next day. We had a great family dinner with G'Pa , G'Ma , Uncle Steve, Aunt Kim and Zack. Luella and Zack were showing off dance moves. They were making faces! Luella loves her cousin Zack! Tim and Uncle Steve showing off their similar parenting skills. The old blood rush to the head works every time!

On August 17 th , we drove back to Phoenix. Before we left, we had breakfast with Uncle Ralphie . We tried to get a picture with Katja looking at her Uncle Ralphie and crying, but she smiled. Sitting pretty on Uncle Ralphie's motorcycle. Luella can't wait until she can actually ride on Daddy's or Uncle Ralphie's motorcycles. Until then, Mickey Ears make cute head gear! Hugs bye-bye for Uncle Ralphie ! Outside Palm Springs, CA there is a mountain pass filled with windmills. They definitely break up the trip with something new to look at! Kyla remembers the debate of using windmills for alternative energy and one opposing argument was that fields of windmills would be ugly. Kyla thinks it's actually quite beautiful seeing alternative forms of energy being harnessed. We did not have a Don Quixote reenactment. The first stop in Arizona coming from California is Quartzsite . Kyla had to take Katja's picture with a saguaro cactus since that was her Halloween...

Katja is now one, so she can join us eating breakfast burritos! Her first Jack in the Box meal. She loved the burrito and seriously ate almost a half of that burrito! Hanging out playing! Jumping on the couch. Tim and Ralphie came home from golfing and the girls got to open more birthday presents! Luella and Katja got coordinating outfits. Luella's in pink, Katja's in teal. Luella loved the pink sweatsuit she got and had to model it! It was only 95 degrees in the Mojave Desert, perfect weather for sweats! Thank you Grandpa Mike! The girls with their Grandpa!

On August 15 th , the Sikorski's went to Disneyland! We stopped for breakfast at Disney Town, right outside the entrance to the park. Luella, Uncle Adam (aka Ralphie ), Luella and Tim ready for the fun! The Sikorski Family and Mickey! Kyla, Katja , Mike (Dave), Ralphie (Adam), Tim and Luella. Katja actually enjoyed riding the pony. She wasn't up to it at Hershey Park in May, but now it's August and Disneyland! Ralphie , Luella, Kyla and Katja got to ride Dumbo!
