Maryland State Fair!

Image
Luella knows what cows say, Granddaddy tells her on the phone all the time! Moo! Luella knows what pigs say too - more than oink - Snurf ! Ducks say, " Aflac !" or is it "Quack!"? Sheep before their haircuts are really soft. Bunnies are really soft too - softer than Goobers! This one's for you Dad, "SPAM, the pinnacle of culinary achievement." All this food, and none of it's on a stick. Guess that's because we're at the Maryland State Fair and not the Minnesota State Fair. Luella can say "fish". We wonder if this east coast living will inspire her to be a marine biologist. Luella knows that an owl says, "Who". Luella running the football in for a touch down! We stopped to watch the 4-H horse jumpers. Luella was more interested in the wood chips. This one's for you Maren!

Uncle Kevin visits

Image
Tim made this toy/book organizer for Luella and Kyla. Luella found a new spot for hide and seek. So much for Kyla's dreams of an organized living room. The first time Uncle Kevin met Luella was New Year's 2007. By August, they are best buds while petting Goobers. Luella loves sweeping! (Kyla's new trick of frozen M&Ms for molar teething reminds us that M&Ms melt in your mouth and run down your shirt.) Tim took away her broom. Remember this for when you can't stand doing your chores! Luella in a cute shirt from her Auntie Kirstie from EN-GER-LAND!

Luella opening early birthday presents!

Coffee really wakes me up in the morning! Ooh ! What's in this present? A new dress and dolly from Grammy and Granddaddy Rasmussen! Luella can't wait to show them off in person over Labor Day weekend! Another cute outfit and lots of books from the Grunnets ! Luella did wait until Uncle Kevin showed up to open the baby Bible he gave her.

Georgette's pictures of her trip east!

Friday we saw Susquehanna State Park. This is where Susquehanna River meets the Chesapeake Bay. House of a general living on the Susquehanna River. Mill on the Susquehanna River. Kyla holding Luella and Ian before going to the National Aquarium. The kids loved the sting rays and sharks. They also loved the dolphins! The Sikorski's at Gettysburg. Can you imagine if this was your operating room? Nurse nuns cooking over the open fire. Kyla and George on Little Round Top. Luella with her sunscreen mohawk on the way to DC. Tim wondering why he has a headache. Kyla with the same headache. George has a headache too! We saw the Holocaust Museum. The Vietnam Memorial always makes me cry. Drinking buddies! The world famous Philly Cheese Steaks! Those wacky quackers !

Mrs. Georgette Danczyk visits the East

Kyla's good friend from Concordia College and NDSU ROTC days came to visit for a week (August 7-14). We picked Georgette up from the airport on Tuesday evening and had a delicious seafood dinner in the Inner Harbor in Baltimore. On Wednesday we did a drive-by tour of the local area and hung out chatting and catching up. On Thursday Kyla, Georgette, Luella and Ian (who Kyla now watches every Thursday) went to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. The kids were fascinated with the sharks, sting rays, and puffins (which Luella calls ducks). Too bad Kyla forgot her camera that day. We'll add pictures when Georgette downloads her photos. On Friday, Kyla had a doctor's appointment in the morning. In the afternoon we went to Susquehanna State Park. After Tim got off work, we had Ginger join us for the 6 th Annual Maryland BBQ Competition. It was a fun night in town with good food, live music, and mullet hunting. On Saturday we went to Gettysburg. We saw the National Cemetery, mus...

Harford County on Friday

Georgette, Kyla and Luella toured Susquehanna State Park, but Kyla forgot to put the memory stick in her camera. We'll get them when Auntie George downloads her photos. For dinner we went to the 6th Annual Maryland BBQ Competition. Cheers from Tim and Georgette! Kyla and Luella dancing to the live band. Luella and Ginger dancing to the music.

Gettysburg on Saturday

Luella not having fun in the Gettysburg museum with Tim and the swords. Maybe it's because her 8th tooth pushed through. Family photo of Kyla, Tim and Luella at the monument built with Abe Lincoln's Gettysburg Address printed (about 200 yards from where he really gave the address). Luella learning that 52 Minnesotan soldiers were found on the battlefield and buried together in the National Cemetery . The pennies are a nod to the MN visitors and Abe Lincoln. Luella is turning into such a great walker! She'll be running any minute.
