Landing the first fish of the morning shortly after arriving at the fishing grounds. As soon as Tim landed one, Uncle Phil hooked up too. Sally the first mate was busy! Nothing bends Tim's rod like a large fish! That big boy is going to be good eating! Another one for the cooler and another double hook-up on the boat! The small fish in the net is bait, not the catch. Awesome picture of Uncle Phil fighting a fish just before landing it. The fish that Uncle Phil fought flopping on the deck. Another round of Sunday morning bass fights featuring Uncle Phil. Uncle Phil caught the big ones today! Luella on the dock not too sure what to think of the catch. Uncle Phil and Tim showing off half of the day's take. In addition to their 8 fish limit, they threw back another 14 fish that exceeded the size limit for the season. (Striped bass between 28-34 inches much be thrown back and only 1 fish over 34 inches can be kept.)

Last day of fishing in Virginia Beach.

Sunday, November 14, 2010, Tim and Uncle Phil went fishing with Captain Bill and First Mate Sally on Key Dreams. Mark was worried that they wouldn't be done fishing and back in time to get Joanna to the airport, so they didn't go out on the boat. Luella hugged Uncle Marcos good-bye until Thanksgiving. Luella hugged Joanna good-bye until Thanksgiving. Tim and Uncle Phil caught their limit (8 fish or 2 per adult on the boat) not long after they started fishing, but held off on their last two fish trying to catch their trophy fish until 11am. The trophy fish (over 34") were elusive . Tim caught most of the keepers (over 18" and under 28") while Uncle Phil caught a lot of slot fish that had to be thrown back (28" to 34"). The biggest fish of the day was 32" and it pained Uncle Phil to throw it back into the water, but rules are rules if we want to fish another day. First Mate Sally estimated that was 100 pounds of fish in the cooler. Two years...

Saturday in Virginia Beach.

Saturday, November 13, 2010, the four of us went to fish off the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Luella thought it was fun. Katja tried it out for the first time! Tim was in it for the good eats. Katja fished for about 3 minutes before she decided the wind was too cold and she got under a towel, blanket and snuggled up on Kyla's lap for warmth. Another spectacular sunset from the bedroom window. The gorgeous sunset from the living room. Uncle Phil and Aunt Becky went to Williamsburg that day and had fun shopping.

Veteran's Day weekend trip to Virginia Beach.

Image
Over Veteran's Day weekend, we drove to Virginia Beach and stayed at the Cape Henry Inn at Fort Story. Friday we went to the swimming beach to collect seashells and see just how violent the waves were. Tim, Uncle Phil, Mark Yeary and his girlfriend Joanna were supposed to go fishing on Friday or Saturday but the water was too rough and they had to postpone fishing until Sunday morning. We had the beach to ourselves with the rough waves. Luella loved looking for seashells and feathers. Katja had fun looking for seashells too. Tim found a recently deceased hermit crab. A nice close up of that hermit crab. We brought him home to put into our seashell collection. The rough waves kicked up a lot of frothy foam onto the beach. We really did have the beach to ourselves! That's what a wind chill in the 40s will do to crowds! Luella and Tim playing with the King Neptune statue. Luella called him King Triton since he's Ariel the Little Mermaid's daddy. Joanna and...

Preschool fun!

Luella made a pine cone bird feeder in preschool today (11/10/10). We hung it up for the birds to come eat right above the bird feeder we keep forgetting to buy bird food to fill.

Fun day! (11/9/10)

Tuesday is dance day! Luella started dancing on pointe (very tip toes) in the lobby while Katja was in her dance class. After dinner the girls were tickling each other in the laundry basket. Katja enjoyed her sister tickles! We think the girls both enjoyed tickle time! Katja has turned into a thoughtful young lady. She strokes her chin and says, " Hmmmm ." The "be careful with fire" part was from Luella's preschool fire safety day.
