Sikorski Saga

Kyla is team teaching the youngest nursery-2 nd grade Sunday School class with Patty Craig this year. We have a 3rd through Confirmation age class this year. Kyla is the webmaster for our church, Epiphany Lutheran Church. So today she took pictures of the Chancel Choir practicing and the Sunday School classes. We met with our Young Families' Group for dinner. Here is Lucas and Denise Shoemaker. New family to our church, the Ransom's, came for the first time and it was Isiah's 2 nd birthday! We got to sing and have cake! The dining room side of our group. The kitchen side of our group. William and Kristin Bressi found party toys!

After her bath this evening, Kati had to put on her pajamas all by herself. She did a great job all by herself! Why must the shirt have the tag in the back and picture in the front? Why can't both legs go in one leg hole? We didn't have a good enough answer for her, so she slept like this all night. We love our strong-willed daughter!

It's a foggy day and the backyard is looking bright. A little too bright. Investigating the backyard uncovers the construction is a lot closer. The bulldozer is knocking down half of "our" backyard. This really isn't our landlord's property, but the woods are definitely shrinking. That whole cleared area used to be filled with trees. It's very bright compared to yesterday. Soon there will be five houses built back there. So much for the country living feel when we'll have backyard neighbors. While in the backyard, Kyla checked on Goober's grave. Tim did a great job marking where our brother cat lies. Luella made her bed this morning without us asking her at all! She earned a Digi Medal! Special Agent Oso on the Disney channel earns Digi Medals for completed tasks, so we decided that was a good way for our girls to earn an allowance. Kati also made her bed this morning without asking! We love a good awards ceremony!

Luella had a make up karate class on Monday night. She loved kicking, even though the late night (for her) class at 7pm made her yawn the whole 30 minutes!

Tim decided to go hunting very early this morning. He saw a beautiful sunrise! Tim missed the birthday cake for breakfast. We got home so late last night that we didn't do anything with the birthday cake. The Three Musketeers helped Kyla put in the candles, sing, and eat birthday cake for breakfast! Luella is gaining more camera responsibilities and she got to take the picture of Kyla with lit candles. She got a lipstick kiss for her great photography skills!

Kyla used her cake decorating class assignment to make herself a cake for her birthday today. Why not put an icing cake on a regular cake? Kyla had her follow up allergist appointment today at the new hospital on Ft. Belvoir . The new soap and lotion for her face have helped and the Flonase helps her to breathe, so we just keep going with that plan. We had some time to kill, so Kyla and Kati had a milk and coffee date at Starbucks. After Tim got off work, we went on a family date to see The Lion King in 3D! It was so much fun, and 3D is probably the only reason to go to the movies these days. We went out to dinner at...not Famous Dave's. We were all a little BBQ'd out at this point. We went to Macaroni Grill because Kyla always loves their chocolate cake, but they've changed their menu. It's good, but not the same as last year. By the time we got dinner, it was almost 9pm and someone else brought their infant who cried the entire time. Not quite the relaxing d...

Kyla was at her church's call committee meeting, so Tim took the opportunity to have the girls make a birthday present for their Mommy. Kati was a cool kid wearing her sunglasses at night!

Luella's teacher decided that one week after Luella's birthday was the perfect time to celebrate in the classroom. Luella is excited for the last of her birthday parties this year! Luella got a crown to help celebrate her birthday. She also got hand stamps. She got a certificate too! She also got pencils and play dough, but Kyla didn't get a picture. Luella brought strawberry cupcakes with shaggy mum icing decorations. Kyla had fun practicing her cake decorating skills learned in class this week.

Kati is extremely happy that she gets to go to school today! She's smiling big for her traditional first day of school pictures by the front door! Big sister hugs for moral support are always helpful. Big cheesy smiles! Kati would not stop for Kyla to take her picture outside of school this morning. Kati sat down next to Luella in the Purple People Eater classroom and didn't want to leave. Kyla got Kati into the Blueberry classroom and she barely looked back to say "Bye Mommy". Kati sat so big and proud, not turning around for fear that Kyla might not let her stay. Kati had a fantastic time at preschool! As they lined up to go home, they sang songs for the parents. " Shhhh , you'll wake the baby!" Kati helped Kyla pick up Luella from her classroom. Luella gave Noah MacFarlane a hug good-bye.
