Ten Years Later (5/1/11)

Image
So many thoughts went through Kyla's head when she saw the late breaking news on Sunday night. She was getting ready to go to bed, but ended up on a 4-way phone call with her family planning a canoe trip. Kyla felt relief that the number 1 terrorist is out of the game. She felt happy that the families who lost loved ones on 9/11/01 could have some sense of closure. She felt angry that ten years of our lives have been controlled by this man's actions nearly 10 years ago. She felt sad that the world would see the drunk Georgetown University students celebrating outside the White House as "the American" response to his death. As a Christian, Kyla can't "rejoice" that some one was killed, but feels that God will judge him appropriately. Tim didn't get the news until his driver told him about it on his way into work. In 1998, Bin Laden bombed the Kenyan Embassy and that killed whole families who were trying to get passports - in essence their 9/11/01. ...

Super Hero Kitty, to the rescue! (4/30/11)

Kyla loves watching the girls play. Today's adventure was Super Hero Kitty to the Rescue! Come on Luella, let me rescue you! Now they're both trapped. Full version of playing.

Royal Wedding Party! (4/29/11)

Image
Kyla remembered watching Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding when she was Kati's age. Kyla thought it would be fun to get all dressed up in fancy dresses and pretend to be at the royal wedding for Prince William and Princess Katherine. The girls didn't get up for the live broadcast of the wedding at 6am. Kyla did and watched in her pajamas. When the girls got up and saw the highlights, Kyla had them in fancy clothes. Kati was not impressed, but Luella had fun playing along! Luella went to preschool in her fancy dress and we had scones and tea for lunch! What a fun day to celebrate a wedding!

Gardening with Rainbows! (4/26/11)

Image
Everyone knows that helping Mommy clean up the yard after dance class means gardening in a leotard, tights and the first mittens Kati can find! Luella helping by picking up all the big sticks! Why put the leaves in a pile when we can throw them up in the air and watch them fall prettily? Done with leaves, time for a trike break. After a quick wardrobe change, it's time to run in the rainbows! So sweet to watch these sisters become best friends too! We pulled weeds and our tulips are blooming and the Easter lily from Sunday makes a great addition! Our rhubarb survived the winter! Kyla planted her Marine Corps Half Marathon race bib because it had wildflower seeds embedded in it. Wonder what will pop up? Our tulips from last year are blooming. Our Easter lily from last year is up and spreading, but not blooming. Our rouge strawberry plant is blooming! Our new animal addition to the outside world - a blue tailed skink .

Happy Easter! (4/24/11)

HOORAY THE EASTER BUNNY WAS HERE! The Easter Bunny left all kinds of goodies on this table, but wait, what's on the couch? A snugly Rapunzel blanket! Easter eggs hidden in the house! Look there's one behind Mommy! Luella found two eggs behind Mommy! The Easter Bunny put Reese's peanut butter candy eggs in the plastic eggs! Kati was content to sit and eat the candy in the first egg she found. Let Luella find all the other eggs! Luella finally convinced Kati to look for more hidden Easter eggs. The girls are all dressed up and ready for Easter. Thanks to Anna and Brian Malloy for having wedding colors that work for Easter dresses too! After worship and brunch, the Youth Group sponsored an Easter egg hunt for the littler kids. Kati wore the hat with ears that says, "Official Easter Bunny"! Kyla wanted a picture of both girls with their Easter baskets near the alter with the tulips and Easter lilies . Luella cooperated. Kati did not. Here she's hiding in t...

The Easter Bunny came tonight and left these presents for the girls! Presents from Grammy and Granddaddy were added in too. Cards and a Rapunzel blanket too! The Easter Bunny had help from our newly formed Craft Group at Epiphany Lutheran Church to make Luella's Rapunzel blanket.

Day Two of our Two Day Play Date! (4/22/11)

We woke up and took another dip in the hotel pool and hot tub! Then we checked out and headed over to the Jackson's for Gus's famous crab dip pizza (and a cheese pizza). The girls sat at their table. Kyla and Ginger sat at the bigger girl's table! Kati loves watching the fish at the Jackson's. Kyla often thinks we should get her a fish, but wonders how long it would last with Goobers in the house. Hi Fishies ! I love you! Kati took a turn holding Ian and they both seemed really unsure of each other. Luella took a turn holding Ian and loves him to pieces! Kyla thinks Luella could handle another younger sibling, but Kyla says NO. Ian was a little upset by girls other than Mommy holding him. Today is also Earth Day and opening day for "African Cats" a live action narrated Disney movie about lions and cheetahs living on the African savanna . Kyla wanted to go today so we could see what Tim sees while in Kenya, plus a portion of today's sales go towards th...
