Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away!

On Friday June 11 th , we drove with the Jackson Family up to Sesame Place! Elmo is Katja's favorite guy in the whole world and Luella isn't so big to think it's "babyish" and Hailey is in the middle, so Lynn and Kyla decided it was the perfect year to visit! Sesame Place is celebrating it's 30 th Anniversary! They had really cool topiary all over the grounds, but we needed the birthday cake! We got there about lunch time and decided the girls needed to eat. After Lynn, Kyla and Katja stood in line for an hour, we finally got to the food. Kyla was sucked in by the really cute Elmo cupcake and the cookies. Stuart took Luella and Hailey to play on the dry play areas while waiting for the lunch line. Katja showing off her Elmo frosting tongue! Our AAR comments - or things we'd do different next time - pay the extra money (not that much extra) to eat with a character or bring a picnic lunch as there are places to eat outside the gate that could be healt...

Surprise Kat and Mike!

Image
On Thursday June 10 th we drove up to Maryland to get a head start on our weekend with the Jacksons . While there, we decided to throw a surprise baby shower for Kat and Mike Ryan with the help of Jenny Rebolledo . They were surprised, but of course said they thought something was up. Mike thrilled to be the only guy (minus James) in the room! More party guests wishing Kat well. Kyla made this baby blanket for baby Ryan. We don't know if the baby is a boy or girl yet, so they got baby green.

A Day in DC with Kit and Annika

On Wednesday June 9 th , we had Katja's follow up doctor's appointment. She was diagnosed with an ear infection in both ears. This is the first ear infection for either girl! Bring on the amoxicillin ! After we got the prescription, we met up in DC with Kyla's college friend Katherine (Kit) Kensrud and her daughter Annika . They are here site seeing while Ryan is working in the area. We had lunch at the Air and Space Museum. (Notice the Shrek Happy Meal toys.) Then we went to play in the Botanical Gardens! The girls loved playing in the children's garden area! Fountains in the rain are so much fun! Water for everyone! Kyla loves these flowers. The children's garden has a little house to play. The girls taking a peek inside. Big smiles from our big girls! Luella is becoming quite the photographer! She took this picture of Kyla and Kit! After a few hours we had to part ways for naps and beating commuter traffic. It was lots of fun catching up and we ...

Luella had her first play date where we didn't join her! She went with her best friend Paige and her mom Laura to the Montclair Dolphin Beach. Luella helped Paige celebrate her 4th birthday during a private party since we'll be gone for her birthday party on Saturday. Luella made a sand angel on the beach! Love that sand angel! The girls jumped in the water, but it was a bit cold! Paige made her first real sand castle! At dinner the girls were making pasta mustaches again! Daddy is quite the influence from 6,000 some miles away!

Kyla decided to have the kids make something special for Tim for Father's Day. When Tim says he gets the box, she'll post pictures of what they're really working on here! The first week of June, the kids were sick. Luella recovered quickly from her bout of pink eye. Katja got it too and would only lay still long enough for the eye drops if Kyla bribed her with M&M's. Katja developed a fever on Thursday the 3rd. When it still didn't break and she developed a wheezy cough by Monday morning, Kyla took her in to the ER. They said it wasn't strep, RSV nor pneumonia . The only thing left was viral bronchitis . Her only treatment was Tylenol and Motrin to keep the fever down, and make an appointment for Wednesday with her primary care physician for follow-up. The older water heater in this house got a new valve, so it doesn't drip water anymore. We also had an HVAC guy come out and blow out the dryer vent and caulk around the vent outlet. Hopefully the dryer...

Happy 3rd Birthday Sarah!

Image
Memorial Day was also Sarah Jurist's 3rd birthday! We went to her party at Friends Park where Kyla and Luella used to do Stroller Strides! Kyla asking the girls for silly faces in an effort to get smiling faces for the next photo. The closest Kyla got to a smiling picture with the four kids - Luella and Katja, Sarah and Liam Jurist. One fun activity was feeding the geese, ducks and fish! Luella and Katja feeding the fish. Back at the Jurist's the adults took a break from unpacking all the party supplies, turned around and saw the kids had stamped not only paper, but themselves! Love the forehead stamp Sarah! And the littlest girl who didn't say no to stamps got totally decorated! Too bad we didn't get pictures of her legs because those were stamped too! Quick way to wash off the stamps, go swimming! Katja loved jumping off the side of the pool to Kyla, while Luella liked staying on the steps and bench playing mermaid. Happy Birthday to you Sarah!
