Driving Day 7/4/10

Image
Happy Independence Day! We started the day in Glendive , Montana. We drove up to Makoshika State Park for Sunday worship services with Mom and Dad's former church. Here are some yucca plants along the road. All during the service, Katja looked up in the sky pointing to the moon and stars that we could still see. She alternated between saying, moon, stars and singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star". Kyla used this formation as inspiration for a painting her senior year of college. Another view of the ruggedly beautiful badlands. Pastor Avis preaching in the amphitheater . Our empty seats after the service. Where were we? We were hiking in the badlands! After eating, we ate at the Jordan Inn Sunday Brunch. This brunch puts almost all other brunches to shame! Katja loved the whipped cream with her Belgian waffles, strawberries and bacon. Mom's omelet . The omelet chef making someones creation. They have a choice of about 30 ingredients to add to the eggs ...

Visiting with the Elerkamps on 7/3/10

We visited with Mark Elerkamp and his kids, Jason, Andy his wife and daughter Rebecca , Sarah and her fiance Justin, along with their friends from the area. As soon as the music came out, Katja was dancing! Dad and Mark catching up again. Mark made brownies, but they were underdone in the middle. It didn't stop the little girls from eating them! Luella feeding Rebecca . Luella, Rebecca and Katja on the start of their brownie sugar high. Justin, Jason, Andy, their friend and Kyla chatting. Andy and his wife. Jason, Andy, their friend, Justin and Sarah. Sarah had their baby boy Jayden just 10 days later. The last house we lived in Culbertson, which was yellow and smaller, without the attachment and garage. The second house we lived in in Culbertson, which was green, but now yellow! The six foot fence Kevin climbed as a toddler was still in the backyard. The grain elevators are we drove out of town. The stockyards as we drove past them out of town.

Montana scenery between Sidney and Culbertson

Teaching Luella to appreciate God's Country. Not a whole lot to say about the scenery besides, it fills Kyla's soul. It's always great to go home to Montana and enjoy the natural beauty, untouched country, minus a few farms and oil pumpers. Kyla loves the transitions from rolling hills and ranch land, to badlands around the Missouri River.
