Visiting the Evers (11/5-7/10)

Image
We drove up to the Ever's new house in Delaware tonight, November 5, 2010! Paige got the privilege of reading the girls their bedtime stories in Sigrid's room. Side note: Today is Tim and Kyla's first 6 th Anniversary!

Shredder S'mores!

Image
Kyla filed a lot of paperwork today (11/3/10) and attempted to shred documents no longer needed. The shredder stopped working, so we burned the documents instead and had S'mores ! Housework needs to end with delicious treats more often!

Wake up Kati!

Katja or Kati (pronounced Caw-T) said she was tired and wanted to take a nap during dinner. Don't forget to chew and swallow. Wake up, Kati! Wake up!

Marine Corps Marathon and Trick-or-Treating!

Image
Our cheering section on the way up to the Marine Corps Marathon! Katja , Luella, Aunt Becky and Uncle Phil. Runners and kiddos on the metro way too early in the morning. What a beautiful day for a run! Watching the sun rise as Tim and Kyla step off the metro into 43 degree weather with hardly a breeze. About 5% of the port-a-potties at the start line for the runners to use. There was a huge uproar from Jon Stewart from the Comedy Channel about the MCM not letting him rent the port-a-potties for his Rally to Restore Sanity the day prior. Once again, think about logistics before you plan an event on the 35 th ANNUAL Marine Corps Marathon weekend! The Marines knew from experience just how much logistic support they needed and got it well in advance of the race. After walking about 26 minutes, we finally saw the start line and arch! The Olympic Flame made it from Athens, Greece to Arlington, VA for the start of the Marine Corps Marathon! Running past Arlington National Cemetery . ...

Ready to Run!

Image
October 30, 2010 we braced ourselves against the crowds. Washington DC was overrun with not only Marine Corps Marathon runners picking up their race packets like Tim and Kyla, but Jon Stewart's and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Instill Fear. Later DC Metro put out that a normal Saturday has an average of 350,000 rides and this Saturday was 850,000 rides. That's a half million more people than should have been there to fight through the crowds to get a race packet! Remind us that Comedy Central needs hate mail for not thinking through the logistics of having that many people in DC on a weekend that draws huge amounts of people for other events.

Hard day of playing.

Image
October 29, 2010 was a hard day of playing. Katja fell asleep on the couch in mid-game! Luella loves playing with her Fancy Nancy dolly from Uncle Kevin!

Pumpkin Carving Night! (10/28/10)

Image
We took tonight to carve our pumpkins! Luella thought the pumpkin guts were funny and slippery. See the seeds! Katja went with the Mr. Potato Head version of pumpkin carving. "Cheekbones here Daddy!" Such a cute smile for her first directed pumpkin decorating! So proud of her first pumpkin she decorated! Kyla, Luella and Katja's pumpkins all done. Tim worked on his a lot longer while Kyla gave the girls baths and put them to bed. Kyla has a skull this year. Luella directed her first pumpkin carving this year all by herself! Kyla loves the classic carving. Katja's first pumpkin she had a real hand in decorating. Tim's mummy turned out excellent! His jack-o-lantern got the most compliments on Halloween night.
