Almost not homeless!

We got to Maryland on December 11th and spent the week looking at rentals. We didn't think we could afford to buy after our trip in October. After we finally decided which townhouse to rent, our realtor had us look at one last townhouse to buy.
We decided to go for it! It is a slight fixer-upper, but mostly cosmetic stuff. The kitchen is the first thing we'll fix - especially the mint-lime green cabinets. Didn't think that mint and lime green could be in the same color, but somehow they are. All Kyla's time watching HGTV and TLC while pregnant is going to come in handy while sprucing up the place!
The townhouse complex looks like it could be a good neighborhood. We have a community pool and playground just past our parking lot. We checked and there are no sex offenders on our street. Our realtor said we were the first couple to check that before buying in all his 20 years of real estate sales...and one of 4 couples who read the contract while sitting there.
We should be closing on the house on or before January 15th. We are just waiting on the paperwork.

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
