Airing our dirty laundry
Tim went up to change her diaper and discovered the following:
Picture Luella naked from the waist down. Head to toe she has dark marks on her. First thought is that she smeared poop all over herself. Then Tim turned on the light and saw small dark circular stains and streaks on her bed. Looking closer, it's not poop smeared all over her and her pajama top, it's dry erase marker in eight colors. She looks very primitive in her tribal markings, even cat-like whiskers drawn on her face. Tim yells, "Oh Luella! What did you do?"
That's when Kyla storms upstairs thinking about how much she hates cleaning up poop, and wondering how big the mess is to make Tim yell like that.
Kyla sees the same and realizes it's going to be funny once the mess is cleaned up. Kyla and Tim debate on whether or not to take a picture. They decide against it because Luella might take it as encouragement, and the posted naked photos might come back to haunt her later.
Tim gives Luella a bath and scrubs 99% of the marks off. The other 1% can only be seen in really good lighting.
Kyla strips Luella's bed and realizes she wasn't lying about needing to go potty. Luella did go potty, on her bed, without her diaper. So now Kyla's looking "forward" to not only dry eraser stains, but potty stains too. Past encounters with dry erase markers have taught Kyla that it's a permanent stain, but searching on the web gives Kyla hope that a dry Mr. Clean Magic Eraser or Murphy's Oil Soap will take out the stain. We'll see.
Luella was cleaned, in new pajamas, with a freshly purged room. Kyla went on a rampage and took out everything but the bed, crib, and changing table from the girls' room. Luella's favorite blanket was a casualty of going potty without a diaper, so it needed a bath. We put Luella to bed with a different blanket and she reluctantly went to sleep around 12:30. She woke up again around 3am calling for her blankie and finally fell asleep around 4 after Kyla did the bedtime routine all over again.
Kyla thought about demanding a vacation from being mommy, but realizes that the messes would still be there when she got back.
