Iron Birds Game!

Our good friend Kat Ryan was trying out two babies and can't wait for her own. Katja warmed up enough to let her be "babysat" while we ate dinner.

Tim's favorites - his girls, baseball, crabs and beer - all in one place!

Kyla, Luella and Katja got their picture taken with one of the mascots, Rip Cord (for Cal Ripken).

Family photo at the ballgame!

Kyla, Luella and Katja with the other mascot, Ferrous (the atomic name for Iron - clever aren't they?!).

An usher gave Katja a batting practice baseball after he found out it was her very first baseball game and she was dressed for the occasion. Aberdeen Iron Birds are Cal Ripken's farm team for the Baltimore Orioles.

Luella had this same look on her face during her first baseball game! They are so sisters! Check back to May 2007 for Tim's birthday and we're at an Orioles game with Tim's dad.

Luella giving Kat a hug for "babysitting" her while Tim and Kyla spent 30 minutes prior to the game until the top of the 5th inning eating crabs. Yes, it's a social event, not just dinner.

It was Super Hero night at the ball park. Not only did they honor the local super heroes, like the fire departments, police departments, little league teams, and 20th SUPCOM (Tim's unit), but had non-local super heroes show up and do a tug-of-war. The caped avengers won (Super Man, Bat Man, and non-caped Spider Man). Incredibly the Hulk, Dark Spider Man, and the purple guy couldn't pull their weight.

SGT Martinez was nominated by the command to throw out the first pitch for the game. She's an awesome NCO who is doing great things.

KIDS!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
