Luella starts school!


Luella finally got her wish to go to school this year! We knew that when Tim deployed, we'd need to get into a routine and find time for Luella to socialize with people her own age. So in November we talked with our church's preschool coordinator and got on the wait list. She called and said there was an opening for the Monday, Wednesday, Friday class immediately if we wanted it. It wasn't our first choice because dance class overlaps on Wednesdays, but we wanted preschool for Luella. Here she is ready to go to school!

Mrs. Debbie Couture (pronounced like Ashton Kutcher) is Luella's teacher. There are four boys and one other girl in her class. They were very happy to add another girl to the class and that Luella isn't allergic to anything. There is one boy who is allergic to peanuts in the class, but the boy who's place she took was deathly allergic to peanuts and wheat. His mom made rice play dough, but it's apparently very sticky. The kids were happy to go to regular play dough.

Katja is boycotting her high chair and loving every second that she gets to be a big girl!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
