Noon was Liam Jurist's Bris . It was a first for our whole family and a lot of the other people there. It was wonderful seeing Liam dedicated to God, receiving his Jewish name, and the love of his family surrounding him! Diana comforting Liam. Jeff and his parents with Diana in the background holding Liam. Sarah was giving everyone high-fives during the ceremony. Tim broke out the weed eater and lawn mower. The weed eater kicked up a rock and shattered the outer layer of our sliding glass door. It was really kind of pretty. That night Tim and Kyla signed up for the 25 th Army Ten Miler on October 4, 2009. Tim hopes he can run the race because he'll be in school in Kansas and no telling if they will allow him to take a 2-day weekend pass to DC. Kyla will run it anyways and has the support of good friend Jennifer Rebolledo . Both our husbands said they'd run at their pace, not our pace, so we needed running partners! Thank you in advance to Mom, Dad and Kirsten's famil...

The girls both experienced their first Easter Egg Hunt! ACS (Army Community Service) put on the Easter Egg Hunt at CAPA field. Luella is having the clown paint her hand. Her ice cream cone hand painting! Bet you can't tell what her favorite food is right now?! The balloon artist made Luella a lady bug balloon bracelet . The start of the hunt! Luella loved finding Easter Eggs in the tall grass! Katja slept through her first Easter Egg hunt! Our friends Jennifer and her son James Rebolledo were in the same section hunting for eggs too! Tim helping James and Luella find more eggs. Luella hugging the Easter Bunny and thanking him for giving her eggs to find and for putting candy in them too! Other events at the Easter Egg Hunt that weren't deemed picture worthy - they had the world's strangest artifact traveling museum, which we all thought was a huge hoax, and we're glad it was a free thing. We had our first cook-out of the season with hot dogs! Then a guy gave a sp...

Katja showing off more of her belly flop scooch crawling technique and her amazing reach which we've nicknamed her " octo -arms" for an octopus.

Wednesday, April 1st

Kirsten and Maren had to fly home. As an April Fool's Joke, Maren switched our silverware and kitchen utensil drawers, but we were so tired, we didn't notice for a few days!

Tim, Luella and Katja on the metro going to DC. Peek-a-boo Katja ! We met Uncle Phil for lunch! We spent Monday afternoon at the Natural History Smithsonian Museum. They had a display on Korea. Tim was there less than a week before! Here's their wedding attire. Luella wanted a picture of her, Katja and Daddy in the mammal section. Kyla's favorite section of the museum was the orchid display. Luella took the time to smell the flowers. Kyla and Luella admiring the cherry blossoms. Katja slept through the cherry blossoms. The girls got to pet the Park Police Horse. Kirsten's life long goal was to see the cherry blossoms. She's taking them all in! The blue sky with pretty pink cherry blossoms. The tidal basin and cherry blossoms. Tuesday we went to the American History Museum. The featured display was the flag that flew over the Baltimore Harbor, inspiring Francis Scott Key to write the Star Spangled Banner. They didn't let us take pictures of the flag. A demonstr...

We started our second day in NYC with bagels! The first Snickers ad we saw that made sense. We took a cruise tour of the four islands and one archipelago that make up NYC. Here's the spot on the Hudson River where our boat was the 4 th on the scene to rescue the airline passengers when it landed in the river. Maren, Kirsten and Luella on the boat. It was such a cold, foggy, windy day. Our tour guide's best quote was, "Coincidences are God's way of remaining anonymous ." Here's the empty spots on the skyline where the World Trade Center towers used to be. The Brooklyn Bridge. Ellis Island. Random fact, no one in Kyla's lineage went through Ellis Island. The Rasmussen's came through Virginia and the Dore's came down from Canada. Luella and Kyla with Lady Liberty. Tim and Katja with the Statue of Liberty. Kirsten, Maren, Katja and Tim looking at the Statue of Liberty. St. Paul's Church. It used to be the tallest building in NYC at one point....
