Angela's Vegas Birthday Bash! (6/10/11)

Kyla and Tim had to get up at 3am to make it to the airport on time. Their first flight had mechanical problems that were resolved in 45 minutes, but that made us 45 minutes late. We missed our connecting flight and waved to it as it pulled away from the gate. So we loved the power towers in Detroit as we were stuck there for four extra hours. We got to Las Vegas and checked into our room at the Flamingo. We had a pool view.Our room was pretty swanky!We ate lunch at Margarittaville.All dressed up AND somewhere to go!Today is Angela Johnson's 35th birthday! She flew in from Okinawa, Japan so we could all party with her! She was in NDSU Army ROTC with Kyla and stationed at Fort Carson, CO with Tim.We left the Flamingo to drive to the Palms in style! Limo ride for the birthday girl!We enjoyed being squishy in the limo!All twelve of us enjoyed being squishy in the limo ride! Really it was cheaper for the 12 of us to get a limo than to get a few taxis.The first bar we went to was Ghost Bar on top of the Palms. We had a great view of the Strip and the weather was perfect on this rooftop bar!Don't look down the windows in the floor if you hate heights!We recreated our picture of partying at 15C in Colorado Springs! Great friends!Tim's younger brother Adam drove up to meet us! They're trying to catch up at our second bar of the night, Rain.Kyla, Tim, Angela and Adam having a laughing great time!Family photo time!Adam brought his girlfriend Natalie up from San Diego. Cute couples!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
