Weekend Warriors Day Two (5/28/11)

We got a parcel from England today! Thanks so much to Kirstie Phipps and Simon Talbot for sending royal wedding souvenirs! They sent dresses and jewelry for Luella and Kati. They sent the pillow, a pen and a tea pot with the royal wedding pictures on them. Kyla asked for the cheesiest souvenirs they could find! They also sent tea and chocolates! THANK YOU!Kyla's first finished project of the day that took two trips to Lowe's - installing new blinds in the living room!Luella helped paint until she fell backside first into the paint tray. Her situational awareness is lacking right now. We hope it's just a stage because she runs into a lot of stuff and hits or kicks people when she's not paying attention.The Shiitake is on the main wall and the lower cabinet part of the kitchen! It's looking better!Tim took on the outside projects. He's mulching everywhere!Tim built out the patio pavers for the fire "pit".Tim built a wood box for all the twigs and branches that fall in our back yard to use as kindling for our fire pit.

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
