Happy 60th Birthday Karen! Ears Pierced! (12/27/11)

Tim and Kyla drove back to Karen and Dan's house after their hotel stay. We picked everyone up and drove to Owatonna for Karen's Famous Dave's BBQ lunch. We love the Roman candle ice cream!

After shopping at Kohl's for new outfits, we drove to Medford to get Karen and Kati's ears pierced. Mom is 20 times older than Kati and they're both getting their ears pierced for the first time!

Kati started crying the longer it took between her ear piercing and Grammy's. Poor girl missed her nap and Claire's policy of taking care of customers at the checkout counter before piercing ears was really starting to take its toll on her.
The longer Kati had to wait, the more upset she became.

She wasn't very happy about waiting, but the lollipop helped. Then the piercing was a bit painful. She forgot about all the tears about 5 minutes later when she rode a little carousel and we drove back to Grammy and Granddaddy's for pizza.

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
