A Young Family Sunday (6/26/11)

After church, Kyla made cookies in the little muffin tins and frosted with vanilla icing. Yummy cookies!
We babysat Madelyn and Rysa Wheeler after church until the Young Families Dinner so their parents could install hardwood laminate floors in their living room.
Our next door neighbor Jessica came over to play too.
Tim and Kati stayed upstairs to look at the different types of fish they want to catch.
They took a nap, dreaming of fishing, while the other kids played.
Ginger stayed longer with her visit than just yesterday's dance recital!
The Schriner Family hosted the BBQ in their backyard. Good food and good fellowship!

On June 27th, Kyla had an eye appointment for what she believed was allergy eyes. She'd read an article in Good Housekeeping about mentioning to the doctor if you ever see floaters in your vision. Kyla did, so the PA got her an emergency appointment with an ophthalmologist at Walter Reed. Good thing Ginger was still visiting because the doctor dilated Kyla's eyes and she couldn't drive home! Thankfully, Kyla's retinas were not detaching, and they prescribed topical steroids to control the allergy eyes. She has a follow up appointment on July 19th.

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
