First day of gymnastics! 8/2/10

Katja and Luella started gymnastics for the month of August. Katja's class is first and Luella's is immediately following on Monday evenings. Luella also has gymnastics on Tuesday evenings. Katja's class is Parent/Child, so this is Kyla and Katja going through a circuit.

Katja's absolute favorite move is to roll down the ramps!
Katja didn't really like jumping on the trampoline, only jumping because Kyla was there and made her jump.
Katja also loved the balance beam! She had great balance and tried to race across it.
Katja loved the beam so much, she did it twice!
Luella started her class with a warm-up learning to do pike, straddle, and hollow.

Luella doing the kitty-cat crawl on the beam. She started to fall off the beam and Dad, the videographer, tried to save her by dropping the camera. He didn't save her nor the camera.
Here she's doing the kitty-cat crawl again and it's very blurry with the broken camera. It took a few days to get the camera to be able to shut, then turn on and stay open. Kyla stopped using this camera regularly after today.

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
