Middle School and Mall of America (8/25/10)

Maren joins Isaac at Black Hawk Middle School. She's posing with her new locker during Back to School Jamboree. (Kirsten calls it "Go Broke Day" as they pay for all the school activities that day.)
Katja thought she should try out a locker too.
Luella helping Maren figure out the combination on her lock.
After Back to School Jamboree, we went to Nickelodeon Universe at the Mall of America. The cousins look good on the carousel!
Anna and Luella on the hot air balloon ride.
Katja and Kyla on the other side of the balloon ride.
When we started to stand in line, Sponge Bob Square Pants and Patrick were there for photos. When we rounded the corner to see Dora and Boots, Katja got mad and started screaming. Sponge Bob is her new favorite since he's on her birthday jammies. So we only got Luella to pose with Dora and Boots.

The kids on the carousel and no one is screaming!

KIDS!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Image
Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
