First Day of Preschool!

No, it wasn't Katja's first day of preschool on September 13, 2010, but she didn't want to hear that at all. She got dressed, had breakfast, brushed her hair and teeth, grabbed Luella's bag and was on her way out the door!
Luella was happy to hold her toys and let Katja carry her bag.
Dropping Luella off at preschool in her classroom, and as Kyla is trying to take the last picture, Katja stands in front of Luella and says CHEESE!
Luella ready for school all by herself! Luella was ready for circle time and sat down next to her best friend Paige. Katja ran and sat down between them! We know one little girl who is ready for preschool already and doesn't want to wait until next year!
Picking up Luella after preschool, Katja found the hat and didn't want to stop playing.
Luella is teary-eyed and holding her class mascot, the brown bear, because her bracelet broke minutes before we walked in the door.
For our afternoon snack, Kyla and Luella redeemed their Cold Stone Creamery birthday coupons. Kyla got chocolate with M&M's. Luella got mint with chocolate chips.
Katja wanted to share.
September 13, 2010 at 1:28pm PDT our newest "niece" Lillian Elizabeth Astle made her way into the world near Sacramento, California! Parents Betsey and Shane Astle and big brother Kevin are very proud! Lilli was 7 pounds, 14 ounces and 20.5 inches long!

After preschool, we had Luella blow out candles on her cupcake. We weren't sure if the candles were defective, or if someone blew them out on her birthday cake yesterday, so this was our second attempt at blowing out the candles. They appear to be defective.

Finally we got the candles lit long enough to sing the birthday song and let Luella blow out the candles to make a wish!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
