Luella's Birthday Party (9/12/10)

We invited all the kids from Luella's preschool class, friends from church, and friends we made in Maryland. Kyla invited so many to get to know the other kids and parents in Luella's class, plus friends we already knew, and to shake up the guest list from Tim's Welcome Home Party last weekend. We had 5 other preschoolers, 1 neighborhood friend, 4 church friends, 1 Maryland friend and most of their parents, some of their siblings, plus 3 single adults for a grand total of 31 people in the house! This was also the first time we had parents drop kids off at the party. Next year might be just a sleepover with one or two friends.
Like most hosts, Tim and Kyla were too busy to take pictures during the party, so all the rest of the pictures are courtesy of Lynn Jackson! Thanks Lynn!

Tim hanging out with Hailey and Luella. We had a great time chatting after the crowds had left with the Jacksons. We really appreciate that they are willing to drive 4 hours in a day to come to our parties two weekends in a row!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
