A bright chilly morning greeted us for the Epiphany Lutheran Preschool field trip to
Belvidere Plantation Pumpkin Patch outside of
Fredericksburg, VA. Best Friends Luella and Paige spent the day together.

Luella and Paige posing while
Katja picks out her pumpkin from the hay ride.

Paige brought her dad Mark along for the pumpkin patch this year.

All the girls trying to find the best pumpkin from the hay ride.

Luella found one that was too heavy for her to carry, so it was Mommy's pumpkin.
Katja looking at the hayride dropping off more kids to get their pumpkins.

The petting zoo had turkeys. Luella practiced her turkey call with Tim beforehand and actually got these guys to gobble back!

Sunflowers have never looked so beautiful!

Luella loved the rope swing in the hay barn.

The kids learned about how bees pollinate the flowers of the pumpkin plant to make pumpkins.

After the tour, the girls played in the sandbox.

Luella was a little mermaid in the sandbox.

The girls had fun going down the culvert pipe slide.

Smiles from
Katja at the end of the ride!

Luella getting creative by going down the slide on her belly.

The playground also had tire swings cut into horse and bull shapes.

After driving about 2 hours to get from
Fredericksburg to Springfield, we hopped on the metro to pick up our packets for the Army Ten Miler on Sunday. The 45 minute metro ride would have been a great, yet missed, opportunity for naps.

Luella was all the vendor's favorite kid at the Expo. She got the princess crown from the Disney Princess Marathon booth. She was willing to spend the afternoon with Bill from Columbia Southern University, but Kyla wasn't willing to let her.

Outside the stadium the Army had all the cool toys set up. The
Sikorski girls had to take the helicopter for a test drive.

Then we met up with the Special Forces booth and jumped around in their zodiac -
rigid rubber boat that Tim took to meetings in Iraq.

The Psychological Operations Soldiers gave the girls Frisbees and plyed with them until we had to leave and head home.
