Grandpa Took us to Disneyland! (11/27/11)
The ultimate bachelor pad complete with a punching bag! We picked up Mike and Adam and drove to Disneyland!
We got our Sikorski Family photo from a nice stranger just inside the ticket gate.Past the train station and we're on Main Street, USA all decorated for Christmas!
We stopped to say hi to Goofy!
The garland across Main Street is all Mickey.
WOW! We love seeing Disney decorated for Christmas!
This is the coolest day ever!
Uncle Adam posed with Luella and Kati near Sleeping Beauty's castle.
Our first official stop was Princess Fantasy Faire to meet Snow White.
We love Snow White!
We had to introduce Uncle Adam to "princess speed" at Disneyland. Princess speed means we stop to see all the princesses, see their shows, participate in shows and then ride a few rides. He's used to "advanced teenage boy speed" which involves racing to all the fast rides and riding as many times as possible. Two completely different Disneyland experiences!
Princess Aurora aka Sleeping Beauty came out to act out her story for her attentive little girl audience.
Then it was time for Coronation and we learned to dance and curtsy like royalty.
Deep curtsy time!
He proclaims it is time to dance!
What a fun May pole dance!
We ate lunch after dancing. Luella loves apple smiles!
Kati had some delicious macaroni and cheese.
The guys enjoyed their lunch.
Kyla and Tim smile cheek to cheek!
Time to ride Dumbo! Tim and Luella got a peach Dumbo.
Kyla and Kati got a pink Dumbo.
Cheese for Kyla's camera!
Kyla took Tim and Luella's picture.
And this is the photo she took of them.
Now it's a family ride around the carousel. Adam still has Kyla's real camera.
He got a cute picture of Kati.
Tim and Luella were a few ponies behind us.
Luella loved her pony so much that she named it Sparkle.
We went to ride the tea cups and saw Santa ride his sleigh past us!
Luella and Kyla got their own purple tea cup.
Tim, Adam and Kati got a pink tea cup.
The girls were a little worn out and it was time to check into the Disneyland Hotel. Thank you Grandpa Mike for getting us a room!
"A dream is a wish your heart makes, when you're fast asleep." The quote from Cinderella was printed on the pillows the girls are napping on. We loved the leather headboard with the pinpoint lights over Disneyland! The bedside lamp between the beds was also a music box playing that song from the Cinderella movie.
Our room overlooked the pool in the courtyard.
We tried to find as many Disney/Mickey things in our room as possible. The lights were handy helpers! Some of the glass tiles in the shower/bath had Mickey ears too!
The faucet handles had Mickey ears!
Even the desk lamp had art deco Mickey ears!
After Kati woke up and we ate dinner, we went back to see the nighttime light parade.
Thank you for a fantastic time at Disneyland Mike! (Kyla is the only one in the family who calls him Mike. He is Michael David "Dave" Sikorski. His dad is Michael "Mike" Sikorski, without a middle name. When Theresa and Dave got married, both the McIntyre and Sikorski families were very close and it was easier to call Mike, Dave. Kyla met Mike without the rest of the family around, after he was established his professional career and was called Mike there.)
Is the parade going to start? The excitement is in the air, or on Kyla's face!
It's Donald and Pluto!
Luella had a fantastic time at the parade, especially with the little girl on her left.
Mickey and Minnie ice skated on their float.
Goofy baked in his gingerbread house.
He had fun throwing flour everywhere.
The princesses and princes danced in the parade. Here's Snow White and Prince Charming.
Here's Belle and The Beast, Prince Eric and The Little Mermaid Princess Ariel going up the stairs.
Woody from Toy Story got to ride his rocking horse.
A decorated Christmas tree danced in the street.
Who is coming next?!?!?!
IT'S SANTA!!!!!!
After the parade, we rode It's a Small World boat ride.
We almost got a whole boat to ourselves.
It's fun how Disney changes the ride to reflect that it's Christmas!
Kati had a great time watching all the singing dolls.
Happy Holidays in Swahili.
The Little Mermaid was in the display.
Peace on Earth to all at the end of the ride.
The post cards at the end of the ride really said it all - the weather was perfect today!
On our way out of the park and we got caught in a snow storm!
The foamy snow smelled like cinnamon!
Sleeping Beauty's Castle looks beautiful all decorated for Christmas!
Right before the train station, we saw Mickey Mouse! Kati was in heaven meeting her favorite Disney character! Luella fell asleep and didn't even know we met Mickey.
Kati was so happy to get some snuggles from Mickey! And just like the last time we came out to visit Grandpa Mike and he treated us to Disneyland in August 2009, Luella fell asleep before we left the park and had to be carried out!
