Hanging out with Grandpa (11/26/11)

Luella and Kyla woke up early enough for breakfast, so we ate while Tim and Kati slept. Luella made a ring with her hard boiled egg!
We drove to Mike's house to spend the day together. Luella ended up getting sick for most of the day, alternating puking and sleeping. Poor girl.
Kati spent the day learning to make an airplane with Grandpa Mike. They are kindred spirits!
 Look at it fly!
Grandpa Mike showed Kati how to fly the plane.
The guys talked and Uncle Ralphie showed Kati her new favorite YouTube video "The Duck Song".

Waddle waddle. Then he waddled away...

Bop bop bop bop bop ba bomp...

This last Duck Song isn't as good as the other two, but it finishes the story.
Luella spent most of the day snuggling.
Grandpa Mike and Uncle Ralphie gave the girls all kinds of toys, including a whoopee cushion!
Luella woke up enough to want to color and paint in the new book Grandpa Mike got her.
Kati colored and played with the farm animals.
Adam made us dinner and drinks. Maybe we should get him a mortar and pestle for Christmas. It was funny watching him trying to crush cloves with the back of a knife blade.

KIDS!

Luella picked out her own outfit. She was cold, so long sleeves and pants. Then she was hot, so flip-flops. She loves her hat, so that worked in her mind too. Katja just looking cute, so had to take her picture too! Bath time for the girls and Luella decided that making Katja's hair stick straight up means she's a boy. We really don't know where she gets this from! Sorry if you're offended by the baby nudity/ inadvertent mooning.

Tim plays Army in WV.

This is the Center for National Response. It's right off I-70 in West Virginia. It was part of the interstate, but the tunnel thru the mountain was too difficult for the state to maintain , so they let people train in there. They can make it rain, blow wind up to 40 mph, fires, explosions, all kinds of awesome training. Here's Tim's company at the entrance to the tunnel. Tim was playing Army while we were hosting Ginger before her big move. Tim and April Miller - team leaders discussing their missions from the day. Tim and his company commander, MAJ Alex Lovase discussing football, or something. Take cover! They have paintball gun attachments to their weapons so you can see where you got hit. One of the missions was to rappel down this hill... Then wade thru this tunnel for 1/4 mile in icy cold water to get to the objective site... As you can see, it was a really long day. Tim was the commander for this mission. The Soldiers had to traverse thru a collapsed tunnel....

Early Birthday Celebrations! (8/6/11)

Image
Kyla found Goobers sleeping on Kati's diaper changing table this morning. He was so cute laying there, Kyla had to get the girls in on a the picture too. We decided to spend this Saturday afternoon celebrating Kati's birthday. We went to see Cars 2 in the movie theater. It was cute, but like most sequels, the original was better. Kati had a coupon for a free meal to Famous Dave's. It came with a Roman candle! Look at the shocked expression on her face with the BIG CANDLE! Kati tried to blow out her candle, but it just wouldn't stop! Luella on the other end of the flames wondered if she really needed her eyebrows! This kid loves her ice cream! Happy early 3rd birthday Katja Johanna!
